The Club Exeter - Mental Health Community Hub
The Club is a warm, welcoming mental health community hub in St Thomas, Exeter — for adults experiencing mental health difficulties or social isolation.
Your first 3 sessions are completely free - except for lunch and drinks..
Maybe you've been spending more time alone than you'd like. Maybe the days feel long and empty, or the thought of going somewhere new feels overwhelming. Whether it's mental health difficulties or simply feeling cut off from the world — you're not alone in feeling that way.
The Club is a place where you can walk through the door and just breathe. No pressure. No judgement. Just the warmth of a cup of tea, a friendly face, and like-minded people who genuinely understand.
Every person here started exactly where you are now.
When you come to The Club, you'll be greeted by a friendly member of the team — friendly staff and volunteers who are ready to listen, chat, and offer support. Need help understanding a letter, navigating benefits, or dealing with everyday paperwork? We can help with that too.
You'll enjoy a freshly cooked lunch prepared by our staff and fellow members for just £4. Unlimited hot and cold drinks are £2. Prefer to bring your own food and drinks? That's absolutely fine too. We also ask for a suggested donation of £3 to help keep the centre running.
We welcome anyone experiencing mental health difficulties or social isolation — and your first 3 sessions are free so you can try it with no commitment. We accept cash, bank transfer, and council-arranged direct payments.

We know walking through a new door can feel daunting. So here's exactly what happens — no surprises.
You arrive and one of the team will be there to greet you. They'll make you a cup of tea, show you around, and introduce you to a couple of people. There's no forms to fill in. No sitting in a circle talking about your feelings. No assessments.
You can join in with whatever's happening that day — or just sit and have a chat. Most people say they felt at home within the first 10 minutes. Just bring yourself. We'll sort the rest.
Every visit is different. Here's what you can get involved in.

Our staff and volunteers are here to listen and offer emotional support. We also help with practical things — understanding letters, navigating benefits, and everyday advocacy when you need it.

Wednesdays are Open Art & Social — open access, no booking needed. Paint, draw, craft, or just come along and enjoy the company. All abilities welcome.

Get your hands in the soil and enjoy some fresh air. Our garden is a peaceful place to potter, plant, and spend time outdoors at your own pace.

Walks, beach visits, trips to the zoo and cinema, swimming, a writing group, movie afternoons — there's always something to look forward to at and beyond the centre.

Share a hot meal, have a laugh, and spend time with like-minded people who get it. Many of our members say The Club is the highlight of their week.
"Coming here changed my life. I finally feel like I belong somewhere. The staff don't just help — they actually care."
